Ingredients
1 1.5 oz package of dried Peppered Earth Fresno peppers (or your favorite variety)
2 cups water
1/2 cup distilled vinegar
1 large clove garlic, peeled and chopped
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
Instructions
Remove the stems from the dried chiles.
Place the chiles in a non-reactive saucepan and add the water. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat. Let the mixture steep for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add the remaining ingredients and return to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for another 10 minutes. Allow the mixture to cool for about 10 minutes.
Transfer contents to a blender and process until smooth. Strain the sauce through a food mill or fine mesh strainer for best texture. Store the hot sauce in a glass jar or bottle and refrigerate.
Tips & Serving Suggestions
Adjust the Heat: Swap Fresno peppers for Jalapeños for a milder sauce, or Habaneros if you want an extra kick of heat.
Vinegar Options: White distilled vinegar gives a crisp, classic bite. Try apple cider vinegar for a slightly sweeter, fruitier finish.
How to Serve: Perfect drizzled over fried eggs, breakfast burritos, tacos, grilled chicken, or stirred into mayo for a quick spicy aioli!
Storage: Store in a sealed glass bottle in the refrigerator for up to 2–3 months.
